1652 Bird Land Cigar Box Purse

Did your mother tell you about the birds and the bees? They are all frolicking in this beautiful image along with a butterfly, beetle and dragonfly! Black bling flanks the sides of this up cycled, brown, wooden, Pedron 1964, Anniversary Series cigar box. The original and authentic logo remains on the inner lid. The back has been painted black, sealed and given gold corner protectors. Eight gold purse feet further protect the back and bottom. The purse has been flipped so that the opening is now on the top and has been given a gold three ball lock for security. The inside has been loved with padded and plush black velvet and black lace trim.  Gold hardware has been attached to the sides so that you may add a strap that you already own. This makes these little cigar box purses of mine versatile in that they can be worn by the handle, over the shoulder or cross- body. I sell straps and gold and silver cross body chains too. The chain in the last photo is available, but not included. The beaded handle is made up of purple, black and crystal beads and a fat black tassel.  7 x 11.5 x 2″ THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC CIGAR BOX PURSE, SO SMALL FLAWS INFLICTED BY THE SMOKERS OF THE CIGARS ARE TO BE EXPECTED! They only add character and charm! Large flaws will be noted in the description. If you don’t like what you see, I can do custom cigar box purses and can include anything you like!- pictures of family members, pets, places- you name it! I always ship insured.  Feel free to call or text me with questions. 813-416-7071   Please sign up for email via this site to get in on new products and sales. History: On the Padrón website is a detailed glimpse into the life of José Orlando Padrón, the company’s patriarch who passed away in December of 2017. Perhaps his story is the most telling insight of what Padrón cigars are about, a direct reflection of the cigar maker. While that is true of almost any brand, the relationship is no stronger anywhere than at Padrón. “In 1962, I arrived in Miami, an unknown city in a foreign land. I had to start from zero,” José Orlando is quoted as saying on the company’s website. “At first, I received $60 monthly, as government aid given to Cuban refugees. I was 36 years old, strong, and in good health. Every time I cashed that check, I felt like a burden on the country that had taken me in. For many days, I looked for a job and could not find one.” José Orlando was determined to support his family and open a cigar business. A friend asked if he had any carpentry skills. José Orlando said he did.  The friend gave him a small hammer “which he asked me to put to good use.” The work done with that ‘martillito’ allowed José Orlando to save $600. With that, Padrón Cigars opened in 1964.
